Description

Compatible Base Materials

4043 aluminium TIG filler is a versatile welding rod designed for joining aluminium alloys, making it ideal for applications such as:

  • Aluminium Alloy Series: 6000 series (6061, 6063), 3000 series, and cast aluminium alloys
  • Automotive Components: Engine brackets, chassis parts, body panels, and heat exchangers
  • Marine Applications: Boat hulls, decking, railings, and marine hardware
  • General Fabrication: Frames, ladders, tanks, and architectural components
  • Recreational Equipment: Bicycle frames, sports equipment, and outdoor furniture
  • HVAC Systems: Heat exchangers, air conditioning components, and refrigeration equipment

Standards & Specifications

  • EN ISO 18273: S Al 4043 (AlSi5)
  • AWS A5.10: ER4043

Typical Mechanical Properties

  • Tensile Strength: 180-230 MPa
  • Yield Strength: 85 MPa
  • Elongation: >10%
  • Shear Strength: 85 MPa

Key Features & Benefits

5% Silicon Content: Provides excellent fluidity and wetting characteristics for smoother welds
Reduced Hot Cracking: Lower susceptibility to hot cracking compared to pure aluminium fillers
Excellent Feeding Properties: Consistent wire feed with minimal spooling issues
Lower Melting Point: Melts at approximately 575-630°C, below the parent metal for better control
Anodizing Compatibility: Produces welds that can be anodized, though colour matching may vary

Recommended Shielding Gases

  • TIG Welding: EN ISO 14175 – I1 (Pure Argon)
  • For Thicker Materials:
    • I1 + He25-75 (Argon + 25-75% Helium) – Increased heat input for thicker sections
    • Flow Rate: 12-15 l/min recommended for optimal protection

Please note the rod length in the description above.

Arc Electrode rods (rough finish coating) are 300mm in length.

Tig filler rods (non arc) are sold in two formats;

  • Packs of (x10, x20, x30, x40, x50, x100) are cut down from trade 1m lengths to 333mm. This is to reduce postage costs.
  • 1kg, 2.5kg, 5kg are 1m, 1000mm original length.

Our prices include free shipping to the standard Royal Mail boundary postcodes (includes IOM, highlands, remote islands)!

Sorry we can’t afford the same to those outside this region.
