£7.99£45.83

Sifalumin No. 16 (4047) TIG Filler Welding Rods – Premium high-silicon aluminum alloy designed for superior fluidity and lower melting point. With approximately 12% silicon content, these rods provide exceptional flowability, reduced hot cracking tendency, and clean, attractive welds. Ideal for automotive applications, heat exchangers, and joining castings where high strength and leak-tight joints are required. Delivers smooth bead appearance with minimal post-weld cleaning and excellent corrosion resistance.

Trade Packs – 1kg, 2.5kg and 5kg bundles are original 1000mm (1 meter in length) and not cut down.

Description

Compatible Base Materials

Sifalumin No. 16 (4047) is a specialized aluminum TIG filler designed for specific aluminum joining applications, making it ideal for:

  • Aluminum Alloy Series: Cast alloys like 319, 355, 356, wrought alloys in the 6000 series
  • Dissimilar Aluminum Joining: Joining different aluminum grades together
  • Brazing Applications: Works excellent for aluminum brazing due to lower melting point
  • Automotive Components: Engine blocks, heat exchangers, transmission cases
  • Heat Transfer Equipment: Radiators, condensers, evaporators, cooling plates
  • Casting Repair: Repairing defects or cracks in aluminum castings
  • HVAC Applications: Air conditioning components and refrigeration systems

Standards & Specifications

  • EN ISO 18273: S Al 4047 (AlSi12)
  • AWS A5.10: ER4047

Typical Mechanical Properties

  • Tensile Strength: 180-240 MPa
  • Yield Strength: 80-90 MPa
  • Elongation: >3%
  • Shear Strength: 85-95 MPa

Key Features & Benefits

High Silicon Content (12%): Provides exceptional fluidity and lower melting point than other aluminum fillers
Superior Flow Characteristics: Excellent for filling gaps and creating leak-tight joints
Reduced Hot Cracking: Lower susceptibility to hot cracking compared to lower silicon content fillers
Excellent for Dissimilar Joining: Ideal for joining different aluminum grades together
Lower Melting Point: Melts at approximately 575°C, creating a wider working temperature range

Recommended Shielding Gases

  • TIG Welding: EN ISO 14175 – I1 (Pure Argon)
  • For Thicker Materials:
    • I1 + He25-75 (Argon + 25-75% Helium) – Increased heat input for thicker sections
    • Flow Rate: 12-15 l/min recommended for optimal protection

Please note the rod length in the description above.

Arc Electrode rods (rough finish coating) are 300mm in length.

Tig filler rods (non arc) are sold in two formats;

  • Packs of (x10, x20, x30, x40, x50, x100) are cut down from trade 1m lengths to 333mm. This is to reduce postage costs.
  • 1kg, 2.5kg, 5kg are 1m, 1000mm original length.

Our prices include free shipping to the standard Royal Mail boundary postcodes (includes IOM, highlands, remote islands)!

Sorry we can’t afford the same to those outside this region.
