Sifbronze No. 1 Brazing Welding Rods

£8.99£149.99

SifBronze No. 1 Brazing Welding Rods – Premium copper-zinc alloy designed for high-strength brazing and bronze welding applications. With carefully balanced tin content for exceptional fluidity and strength, these rods produce golden-coloured joints with excellent ductility and corrosion resistance. Ideal for joining ferrous metals, copper alloys, and galvanized steel. Delivers superior capillary action, minimal base metal distortion, and robust mechanical properties at lower working temperatures than conventional welding.

Trade Packs – 1kg, 2.5kg and 5kg bundles are original 1000mm (1 meter in length) and not cut down.

Description

Compatible Base Materials

SifBronze No. 1 is a versatile brazing rod designed for joining a wide range of metals, making it ideal for applications such as:

  • Ferrous Metals: Mild steel, carbon steel, cast iron, and galvanized steel
  • Copper Alloys: Brass, bronze, and copper
  • Dissimilar Metal Joining: Steel to copper, steel to brass, cast iron to steel
  • Automotive Repair: Body panels, exhaust systems, and chassis components
  • HVAC Applications: Pipe joints, tubing connections, and heat exchangers
  • General Fabrication: Ornamental ironwork, furniture, and metal artwork

Standards & Specifications

  • EN ISO 24373: S Cu 6560 (CuZn40Sn)
  • AWS A5.8: RBCuZn-C

Typical Mechanical Properties

  • Tensile Strength: 350-450 MPa
  • Elongation: >25%
  • Working Temperature: 830-890°C
  • Shear Strength: 250-350 MPa

Key Features & Benefits

Excellent Fluidity: Flows smoothly into joints, providing superior capillary action
Tin Content: Enhances strength and corrosion resistance compared to standard brass
Lower Working Temperature: Reduces base metal distortion and annealing
Colour Match: Produces attractive golden-coloured joints, ideal for visible applications
High Ductility: Joints resist cracking under stress or vibration

Recommended Flux and Techniques

  • Flux Requirement: Must be used with appropriate bronze welding flux
  • Flux Coverage: Apply flux to both rod and joint area for optimal results
  • Heating Technique:
    • Heat base metal evenly until flux becomes clear and active
    • Touch rod to heated joint, allowing capillary action to draw material into joint
    • Avoid overheating which can vaporize zinc and weaken the joint

Please note the rod length in the description above.

Arc Electrode rods (rough finish coating) are 300mm in length.

Tig filler rods (non arc) are sold in two formats;

  • Packs of (x10, x20, x30, x40, x50, x100) are cut down from trade 1m lengths to 333mm. This is to reduce postage costs.
  • 1kg, 2.5kg, 5kg are 1m, 1000mm original length.

Our prices include free shipping to the standard Royal Mail boundary postcodes (includes IOM, highlands, remote islands)!

Sorry we can’t afford the same to those outside this region.
